Today we met April and Katie to play in the water at the new park on the river in Lake Oswego. Katie seemed to have a lot of fun splashing and showing Gunnar how to splash. Then she met a man her own age (we think he was 4) to chase around, and she spent some time playing with him. Gunnar is such a little water baby! He absolutely loved the water, and when I let him stand in it, he immediately leaned over to get farther into the water. I somehow forgot to bring a change of clothes, so when Gunnar was done swimming, he went straight to a diaper, sweatshirt and BabyLegs. He was "that" baby when we went to WalMart to develop photos - honestly it's the first time ever he's been in public in a diaper. Anyway, here are some photos from Gunnar and Katie's fun day at the park.
Gunnar sure is enjoying all those BabyLegs I got for him. Below are Justin's favorite - the skull leggings!
As promised, here's the photo of Gunnar crawling toward the china cabinet.
Gunnar is loving bathtime every night, and I actually have a hard time getting him out of the tub without any crying or fussing. Months ago, I bought him an inflatable duck that quacks and makes bathtime more comfy for Gunnar. Once I get his pajamas on after bath, Gunnar is a happy little guy again, and the second photo below shows his 2 new teeth perfectly!
Well, I can hardly keep my eyes open any longer tonight, so I think I'll head to bed. I'll be posting again tomorrow hopefully...

Guess who's crawling...
Well, it's official. Until today, Gunnar was only dragging himself along the floor, but today, he finally saw something totally worth crawling for - a china cabinet full of sparkly, fragile things. We went to a party for a co-worker of Daddy's who just graduated from police academy, and the hostess of the party had a giant china cabinet, which Gunnar saw and went for immediately. He's also started pulling himself to stand using whatever is nearby - thankfully I'm usually the hand-hold so we haven't had any accidents yet. Guess we'll be getting rid of our razor-sharp coffee table now. I've noticed in the past few days with Gunnar's increased mobility that I no longer have time to do normal things like go to the bathroom, eat, get water, etc. I seem to spend my entire day trying to contain Gunnar, and even though we thought we baby-proofed our house, I now see some major issues like lamp cords and the cable box (Gunnar likes to manually change the channels). All of this moving has really worn him out though, and by 5:30 every day (and after 2 long naps) Gunnar starts getting cranky and rubbing his eyes. Maybe being able to crawl will help him sleep longer at night?!
We have a new and improved camera, but our lovely computer won't let me download the software, so I don't have any new photos today, but will hopefully get the problem fixed ASAP. I HAVE to post a photo of Gunnar's new facial expression (we think he learned it from watching Arnold the dog) where he wrinkles up his nose and sort of snort-breathes. It's too cute. Here's a photo of Arnold to simulate the face. It's an old picture, in which I'm 9 months pregnant and Arnold is perched on the ottoman.
Off to bed now, maybe I'll be able to post new photos tomorrow!

Gunnar's First Blog...
Gunnar and Daddy celebrated their first Father's Day together Sunday. We spent a pretty low key day at home. Daddy got up and found his new phone by the bed with a brand new photo of Gunnar as the background, then we headed into Lake Oswego to see Grandma Carole and Great Grandma Irma. Gunnar sat in the high chair Daddy and all the Smith kids used, and ate all his breakfast like a big boy. When we came home, we spent some time getting yard work done, and had an overall lazy day. Here's a photo of Gunnar and Great Grandma Irma.

Yesterday, Gunnar got his new BabyLegs I ordered for him. I thought they would be nice for his legs with all this "learning to crawl" business. His knees have started getting a little chafed. He doesn't mind them at all, and they make my life a little easier. Aren't they cute?!
Well, that's it for Gunnar's first blog... I'll update as often as possible!
