Gunnar Gunnar Bo Bunnar

Yesterday was the 4th of July. We woke up at the usual time, had a lazy morning while Daddy and Grandpa built the deck. The deck is the latest of projects Daddy has started, and so far it looks great! I can't wait to have a bigger deck we can spend time on. Summer mornings will be so nice with coffee on the deck, and Gunnar can play outside before it gets too hot every day. Anyway, Grandpa Joel got to spend a little time playing with Gunnar before he headed back to LO for the holiday festivities. I'll post that photo hopefully tomorrow after I've had a chance to download photos at Wal-Mart tomorrow. Here's a photo of Grandpa and Daddy building the deck supports though.

Back to the 4th of July... Ali and Jeromy invited us to join them for a party their friends were throwing. I made some dessert, and we headed up to enjoy the holiday. Justin had to be in bed early because he had to work at 5am on the 5th, so we didn't stay for fireworks. Gunnar had a blast though, and found a new friend we call the "Baby Whisperer", named Hannah. She kept Gunnar busy and happy almost the entire time we were there. He thought she was just the best thing ever (all that attention), and they played with the LeapFrog toy Tom and Kim had. Looks like Ali has some competition for Gunnar's affection, eh?! When we got home, the neighbors were just gearing up to set off fireworks, and Justin was in a mad race to fall asleep before they started. So we found ourselves trying frantically to get Daddy and Gunnar all ready for bed. The fireworks kept them both up, which in turn kept me up, and the only ones the fireworks didn't seem to bother were the dogs. They could have cared less about all the lights and explosions... crazy, eh?! Today, Gunnar struggled with his newfound mobility a bit. The more he moves, the more mishaps he has, and the more frustrated he gets. Since he was 2 months old, he's been angry that he couldn't get where he wanted to go, and now that he can crawl, he's angry that he can't walk. He had two face plants today, and rug-burned his poor little nose on one. He's getting closer to standing on his own though. Today I gave him a "wagon wheel" snack that everyone has been telling me about, and when I turned my back, he stood up to eat it. By the time I turned back around, he was standing up, barely leaning his back against the couch while he ate his wagon wheel. From my angle, it hardly looked like he had any support at all. I wish I had a photo of it... Instead, here's a shot of the view from the couch of Gunnar pulling up. This also shows the "snorty" face we think he learned from Arnold.

Well, time for bed... the boys have been asleep for hours now, and I geuss it's my turn to get a few hours before Gunnar wakes up again.
